Studio
After studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martins where I first became interested in working with natural dyes, I worked in London for a few years before coming back home to Cornwall in 2019 to start up my own practice.

The studio offers locally sourced naturally dyed wools from grown dyestuffs, as well as hosting a workshop program. At the end of 2022 I became a member of South West Fibreshed︎︎︎, a regional division of the global Fibreshed community, joining a growing map of farmers, makers and producers across the South West with a commitment to creating regenerative and bioregional textile systems.
Growing
I first planted the dye garden in the Spring of 2020, an ongoing project exploring how a smaller cottage industry textile model can work to benefit local bio-systems and function within nature. Starting from seed and following each plant’s life cycle; learning their idiosyncrasies and potential for colour forges a connection between the soil and textile.
Dyeing
Drawing inspiration from historical dyeing methodology of the British Isles, my work is rooted in age-old natural dyeing and textile practices linked to social histories, a narrative connection back to the dyers of the past. I mainly work with Weld, Madder, Woad and Indigo, dyes which represent a shared history within European textile culture, illustrating the possibilities for contemporary plant colour through developing and tweaking my own recipes.
Making
My practice also focuses on process-driven, slower, more sustainable traditional craft methods. Natural dyeing traditions come from a pre-industrial time; alongside plant dyeing my research often looks at rural and folk crafts linked to the countryside. Spinning, weaving and knitting provide that tangible connection and as a maker, seeing the process through from raw material to something that forms its own material life.
